Shree Refrigerations Inaugurates New Defence and Marine HVAC&R Manufacturing Facility in Karad, Maharashtra
Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL) has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Karad, Maharashtra, aimed at strengthening India's indigenous defence and marine HVAC&R manufacturing capabilities. The facility was inaugurated by Vice Admiral B. Sivakumar, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy.
Developed across more than six acres, the plant features modern manufacturing technologies including robotic welding, laser cutting and bending machines, along with backward-integration processes such as shot blasting and painting. The expansion adds 50,000 square feet to SRL's manufacturing footprint, with provision for an additional 50,000 square feet to support future capacity needs. The facility has also been built to Indian Green Building Council standards.
The project supports the Government of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives by enhancing domestic manufacturing capacity for defence and marine refrigeration and HVAC systems. R. G. Shende, Chairman and Managing Director of Shree Refrigerations, said the initial phase will focus on improving efficiency and strengthening the supply chain, reducing manufacturing time and logistical delays, while also generating local employment.
Shree Refrigerations, with nearly 35 years of experience in refrigeration and under a decade in defence manufacturing, listed on the stock exchange in August 2025. The company reported revenue growth of more than 100 per cent year-on-year in H2FY26 and over 50 per cent for the full fiscal year, driven by improved execution and project completion rates. No specific investment figure for the Karad facility has been disclosed.
