Lubrizol and Polyhose Inaugurate Medical Tubing Manufacturing Facility in Chennai for Neurovascular and Cardiovascular Devices
Lubrizol, a global specialty chemicals company, and Polyhose, a manufacturer of fluid conveyance systems, have inaugurated a new medical manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The plant will produce precision extruded medical tubing used in minimally invasive devices, including neurovascular and cardiovascular applications.
The facility is certified to ISO 13485 standards and is designed to operate in line with Lubrizol's global manufacturing network. Production will use a range of high-performance materials, including polyamides, nylon, Pebax, polypropylene, polyethylene and Lubrizol's medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane.
John Valukas, President of Lubrizol Engineered Materials, said the project combines Lubrizol's medical device expertise with the manufacturing strength of its India partner to deliver advanced tubing solutions for life-saving applications. Abhishek Shrivastava, Managing Director of Lubrizol IMEA, said the Chennai site builds on the company's existing manufacturing, R&D and technical services footprint in India.
Shabbir Yusuf Jamnagarwala, Founder and Managing Director of Polyhose, said the collaboration combines over three decades of extrusion and fluid-conveyance expertise with Lubrizol's materials science capabilities. The facility is expected to enhance access to catheter tubing technologies for medical device manufacturers across India, the Middle East and Africa.
The investment is intended to expand India's domestic capacity for precision medical tubing, reduce reliance on imported medical components, and support the broader growth of the country's MedTech and healthcare manufacturing sectors. No specific investment figure has been disclosed.
