Torrent Group to Invest Over ₹43,000 Crore Across Power and Pharma Projects in Madhya Pradesh

The Torrent Group is undertaking ongoing and upcoming projects worth over ₹43,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh, spanning energy and pharmaceutical infrastructure. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav discussed the investments with Torrent Group Chairman Samir Mehta in Ahmedabad. The developments are expected to create over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The largest project is a 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Anuppur, with Torrent Power investing around ₹22,000 crore. The project is expected to generate around 7,000 direct and indirect jobs. A Power Purchase Agreement was signed with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited on January 27, 2026. Land acquisition has been completed, and L&T and Tata Projects have received work packages for the project.

Torrent is also developing the 1,500 MW Patalkot Pumped Storage Project in Chhindwara, involving an investment of ₹7,500 crore and expected to generate around 4,000 jobs. A 250 MW wind energy project is under development in Ratlam and Ujjain, involving ₹2,000 crore and around 500 jobs. Separately, the group is working on another 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project involving ₹11,000 crore and expected to generate 3,500 jobs.

The Torrent Group also operates a USFDA-approved pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Pithampur, which involved an investment of ₹300 crore and employs more than 400 people.

Madhya Pradesh is separately initiating a tender for 2,800 MW of thermal power capacity under the DBFOO model, with Torrent Power invited to participate. The state expects the combined developments to expand its power generation and energy storage capacity while supporting future industrial growth.
