Amazon Plans ₹3,500 Crore Data Center Campus in Ambernath, Thane
Amazon Data Services India Private Limited is developing a large-scale data center campus at Asode and Burdul villages in Ambernath, Thane district, Maharashtra. The project is currently at the pre-construction stage, with design and specifications work in progress as of August 2026.
The development is planned across 48.85 acres, with a total construction area of approximately 42,40,313 sq ft. The estimated construction cost is ₹3,500 crore, with construction planned from 2026 to 2029. The campus will have an IT power capacity of 473 MW.
Amazon acquired the land parcel from Macrotech Developers (Lodha Group), which had acquired approximately 38 acres near Palava City in 2024. The proposed development will comprise four data center buildings, each configured as Ground Floor plus 7 upper floors. Supporting infrastructure will include an auxiliary water building, a 220 kV GIS building, a pump room, an OWC room, and an STP room, along with a 220 kV substation with transformers and multiple raw-water tanks.
Lodha is currently undertaking the design work in-house and acting as design consultant for Amazon on the project. Ramboll India Private Limited has carried out technical due diligence and geotechnical investigation for the site. A dedicated design architect is expected to be appointed at a later stage of the project.
