Kerala sets aside over Rs 12,400 crore for Green Transport Corridor

Infrastructure  -  Dec 04,2023  -

Kerala has set aside more than Rs 12,400 crore for the construction of a green transport corridor and Rs 90 crore for the project's first phase.
The complete hydrogen value chain, including production, distribution, and transportation, would be covered by the three hydrogen valley platforms that will be established with the allocation of Rs 90 crore, according to sources.
Two green hydrogen valleys are to be developed by the state in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
The proposal for the Kochi valley has been submitted to the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology; work on the proposal for the Vizhinjam project is still in progress.
DST has called for proposals from agencies to establish hydrogen valleys as part of Mission Innovation, a global initiative involving 23 countries and the European Commission.
The mission aims to stimulate efforts and investments in research and development to make clean energy affordable and accessible worldwide.
Kerala also aims to transform its major transport corridors - the west coast canal, coastal and hill highways - into green economic trade corridors.
