Samvardhana Motherson to Invest ₹11,000 Crore in Tamil Nadu D.E.M.A.L. Facilities, Create 7,000 Jobs
Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, together with its European and UK-based joint venture companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state's investment facilitation agency, committing an investment of approximately ₹11,000 crore over the next five years. The agreement was signed in London during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's official visit to the UK.
Under the MoU, Motherson will establish integrated Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly and Logistics (D.E.M.A.L.) facilities at strategic locations across Tamil Nadu. The agreement was exchanged by Barry Painter, Global Head of Marketing and Communications at Samvardhana Motherson International Group, and Deepak Jacob, IAS, Managing Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu.
The project is expected to generate close to 7,000 jobs in advanced engineering and supply chain operations, spanning design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly and logistics functions.
This was the single-largest investment commitment among the MoUs signed during the London leg of the visit, which also included a ₹1,000 crore commitment from Ernst & Young to set up a Global Capability Centre in Tamil Nadu. The Motherson agreement is intended to strengthen Tamil Nadu's advanced engineering and auto component supply-chain ecosystem as part of the state's push to position itself as an advanced manufacturing hub.
