Haryana Approves ₹912.70 Crore Power Distribution Infrastructure Expansion Under RDSS
The Distribution Reforms Committee (DRC), chaired by Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, has approved additional power infrastructure works worth ₹912.70 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The approval covers upgrades to the state's electricity distribution network and will be forwarded to the Power Finance Corporation and the Ministry of Power for final clearance by the RDSS Monitoring Committee.
The approved package includes the construction of 30 new 33 kV substations and the upgrade of 72 existing substations, together adding 1,175 MVA of transformation capacity. The scope also covers SCADA and Distribution Management System (DMS) installations intended to improve real-time monitoring and control of the grid, along with loss-reduction works in Palwal and Nuh districts.
The works will be implemented by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (DHBVNL) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL), the state's two power distribution utilities. Under RDSS, projects worth ₹5,165.61 crore have been sanctioned for DHBVNL and ₹1,527.54 crore for UHBVNL so far, taking the total sanctioned outlay for the state to nearly ₹6,700 crore, of which works worth over ₹5,071 crore have already been awarded.
Additional RDSS projects in Haryana remain in various stages of tendering and implementation. State officials cited improvements in billing and collection efficiency at the two utilities as part of the backdrop for the latest approval.
