Infrastructure Jun 21,2026

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar performed the bhoomi pujan for the Indore–Ujjain Greenfield Corridor at Chandrawatiganj. The access-controlled four-lane corridor will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,935 crore and will span 48.1 km.

The route will connect Piteshwar near Indore with Chintaman Ganesh in Ujjain, easing travel ahead of the Simhastha-2028 religious congregation. Once complete, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to approximately 30–35 minutes. The corridor will also link Pithampur to the Delhi-Mumbai Economic Corridor through the Nimar region.

The project will directly connect 28 villages, including 20 in Indore district and eight in Ujjain district, and is expected to benefit close to 1.5 million people. The Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) is executing the project, with the construction contract earlier awarded to Ludhiana-based Seagull Infra Project Pvt. Ltd.

Land acquisition for the corridor covered around 242.939 hectares belonging to 917 farmers, with more than ₹816 crore disbursed as compensation, determined using market and sale values rather than standard collector guideline rates.
