Tata Power has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, for the acquisition of Ryapte Power Transmission Limited, a project special purpose vehicle. The project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis, with Tata Power providing transmission services for 35 years from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date.

The scope covers construction of approximately 250 km of transmission lines, comprising a 400 kV double-circuit line, a 220 kV double-circuit line, and a 220 kV underground cable network. The project also includes two greenfield substations: a 5x500 MVA, 400/220 kV AIS substation at Ryapte in Tumkur district, and a 3x500 MVA, 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote.

Line construction includes a 400 kV double-circuit link from Ryapte AIS substation to the proposed Doddathaggalli GIS substation, and another 400 kV double-circuit line from the existing Kolar substation to Doddathaggalli. The 220 kV network will connect Doddathaggalli to existing substations at Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura via overhead lines and underground cables.

The annual transmission charges for the project are pegged at ₹521.07 crore, with the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date set for 30 months from the effective date of SPV transfer.
