Airbus has entered into arrangements with several vendors based in India to manufacture commercial aircraft parts.
The aerospace firm stated in a statement that contracts for the delivery of airframe and wing parts for Airbus' A320neo, A330neo, and A350 projects have been inked with Aequs, Dynamatic, Gardner, and Mahindra Aerospace.
In the statement, Airbus stated that the most recent agreements come after Tata Advanced Systems was given the task of manufacturing the bulk cargo and cargo doors for the A320neo family earlier this year.
The most recent round of contracts would greatly increase the company's annual volume of purchases from India, which currently totals USD 750 million for parts and services, according to the statement.
Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, said, “ Make in India is at the core of Airbus' strategy in India. We are proud that we are putting in place all the critical building blocks for an integrated industrial ecosystem that will propel India into the front ranks of aerospace manufacturing nations.”
