Adani Group, Embraer Finalise Dholera, Gujarat For Regional Aircraft Final Assembly Line
Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer have finalised Dholera in Gujarat as the site for setting up a final assembly line (FAL) for regional transport aircraft. The facility will be located in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), a planned greenfield industrial smart city near Ahmedabad.
The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding in January 2026 for strategic collaboration on regional transport aircraft in India. The plan involves establishing an assembly line followed by a phased increase in indigenisation, in alignment with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and the UDAN regional connectivity programme. The joint venture is targeting commencement of assembly operations by 2028, subject to confirmed aircraft orders from Indian carriers.
The Dholera site is being developed as an advanced industrial city, and is also expected to host a planned international airport, an MRO facility, a pilot training school, and a sea port being developed by Dholera Port Ltd, promoted jointly by JK Group and Adani Group.
Embraer currently operates nearly 50 aircraft across 11 types in India, serving the Indian Air Force, government agencies, business jet operators and commercial carrier Star Air. The Adani-Embraer partnership also includes an earlier agreement, signed in October 2025, to manufacture the C-390 Millennium multi-mission military transport aircraft in India.
