    Mukand Sumi Special Steel Ltd. has announced a greenfield integrated steelmaking facility in Kanakapura, Koppal, Karnataka, with an initial capacity of 0.35 MTPA and investment of Rs.23,450 million. The project includes expansion of alloy steel rolling capacity to 0.9 MTPA and backward integration. Construction is planned from May 2026 to May 2028, subject to environmental clearance.

    A major expansion is planned at a steel manufacturing facility in Ludhiana, Punjab, involving an upgrade of the electric arc furnace to boost billet production capacity from 90,000 TPA to 1,65,000 TPA, while ingot output remains unchanged. The project entails an investment of about Rs. 686.1 million. Construction is scheduled for 2026–27, and environmental clearance approval is under review as of December 2025.

The facility will produce 5,000 MT/month of coke products, 2,000 MT/month of met coke, and 1,000 MT/month of anthracite coal, with an estimated cost of Rs. 137 million. As of December 2025, the company has received consent to establish from state pollution control authorities.

Construction is scheduled from February to June 2026, and the proposal is currently with SEIAA for environmental clearance.
