Toray Industries (India) to Build New Polyphenylene Sulfide Resin Facility in Suri City, Andhra Pradesh
Toray Industries (India) has decided to build a new production facility for Torelina, its high-performance polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin, at its existing site in Suri City, Andhra Pradesh. The resin offers heat and chemical resistance, mechanical strength and flame retardancy, and is used in engineering plastics for automotive electrical components and engine parts.
The facility will have an annual production capacity of around 3,000 metric tons and will be Toray's first in-house PPS compound production line in India. Operations are expected to begin in early 2027, with sample supplies to customers starting in April 2027 and full-fledged mass production to follow.
The new line adds to Toray's existing nylon and polybutylene terephthalate resin compound production in India, creating an integrated in-house PPS resin compound production system aimed at local automotive component manufacturing. The facility supports Toray's broader strategy of expanding its supply chain resilience in India, alongside plans to open a new office in Pune, Maharashtra, in July 2026 to strengthen local production, sales and technical support.
The investment aligns with India's Make in India and Production-Linked Incentive initiatives, which are driving demand for locally manufactured resin materials as automotive and appliance industries scale up.
