Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Dharashiv district, Maharashtra. Electricity generated from the project will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, contributing toward its Renewable Purchase Obligation targets.

The project comprises 28 wind turbine generators of the SG 3.6-145 model, based on horizontal-axis wind turbine technology. The facility is expected to generate approximately 299 million units of clean electricity annually, offsetting close to 245 million kg of CO2 emissions each year.

With the Jewali project, TPREL's wind energy portfolio has crossed 3.9 GW, of which more than 1.3 GW is operational. The remaining capacity is under various stages of development across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

TPREL's total renewable utility capacity now stands at 11.6 GW, with 6.7 GW operational, comprising 5.4 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind. A further 4.9 GW is under implementation, including approximately 2.1 GW of solar, 2.6 GW of wind and 0.2 GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS), expected to be commissioned over the next 6 to 24 months.

The commissioning supports Tata Power's long-term target of achieving 100 percent clean energy generation by 2045 and forms part of the company's broader expansion of its renewable generation, transmission and storage portfolio.
