Himadri Speciality Chemical is rolling out a ₹2,800 crore capital expenditure cycle over the next two years, focused heavily on lithium-ion battery materials and advanced carbon products. The company has planned capital deployment of ₹1,300 crore in the current fiscal year, with a further ₹1,500 crore planned for the next fiscal year.

The plan includes setting up India's first commercial Carbon Nanotube (CNT) manufacturing facility, with a capacity of 200 MTPA and an initial outlay of ₹70 crore. The CNT plant is based on indigenous, in-house developed technology and is targeted for commissioning by the fourth quarter of FY27.

As part of the broader capex programme, Himadri has also committed ₹1,125 crore toward an LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cathode active material plant, with Phase 1 scheduled for operationalisation by the third quarter of FY27. The overall investment is aimed at building a domestic raw-material hub spanning both cathode and anode battery materials.

The expansion positions Himadri to supply localised battery-grade inputs to Indian gigafactories and cell manufacturers seeking to reduce dependence on imported lithium-ion battery components, as domestic EV and energy-storage supply chains scale up.
