Automotive Industries Jul 01,2026

Hero MotoCorp will invest ₹3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh over the next three to five years, according to Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal. The investment covers a new global parts centre (GPC 2.0) at Tirupati and a capacity expansion of the company's existing Tirupati manufacturing plant.

The GPC 2.0, whose foundation stone was laid on July 1, 2026, involves an investment of ₹750 crore. It will be the company's second global parts centre after its facility at Neemrana, Rajasthan, and is expected to become operational in about two years. The centre will support spare parts supply to domestic and international markets, and is also intended to expand Hero MotoCorp's accessories and merchandising business.

At the Tirupati plant, which currently manufactures both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles, annual production capacity is planned to be raised from around 0.6 million units to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units. The expansion is expected to generate around 4,000 jobs.

Hero MotoCorp has previously invested around ₹1,600 crore in Andhra Pradesh, including setting up the Tirupati manufacturing unit in 2018. Further investment plans had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before the company recommitted to the state.

Completely knocked-down (CKD) parts are also expected to be exported from the Tirupati GPC to Hero MotoCorp's other global markets, alongside a separate agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to launch a merit-based scholarship programme supporting technical education in the state.
