Coal India and UPRVUNL Sign JV Agreement for Renewable Energy Projects in Uttar Pradesh
Coal India Limited (CIL) and U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) have signed a joint venture agreement to develop renewable energy projects in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was executed on July 3, 2026, and disclosed through a regulatory filing on July 5, 2026.
UPRVUNL is the state-owned power generation utility of Uttar Pradesh. The JV will focus on developing renewable energy projects within the state as part of efforts to diversify the power generation mix and expand renewable capacity.
The filing did not disclose the planned project capacity, investment size, or implementation timeline. Further details on the scope and scale of the projects are expected to be announced at a later stage.
The agreement adds to CIL's expanding renewable energy portfolio. The company recently received a Letter of Award from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited for a 600 MW (2×300 MW) solar power project at the Jalaun Solar Power Park in Uttar Pradesh.
