Coal India Bags ₹2,831 Crore Contract to Set Up 600 MW Solar Plant at Jalaun Solar Park, Uttar Pradesh
Coal India Limited has secured a ₹2,831.11 crore contract to set up a 600 MW solar plant at Jalaun Solar Park, Uttar Pradesh, awarded by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited. Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited is a joint venture between NHPC Limited and the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency.
The order involves the development of two 300 MW solar plants, with the electricity generated to be priced at ₹2.73 per kWh. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement.
As per the contract terms, Coal India is required to submit necessary documents in accordance with the Letter of Award and proceed to sign the PPA, Implementation Support Agreement, and Land Rights and Use Agreement. Coal India must pay the upfront solar park development charges before signing the Implementation Support Agreement.
The project strengthens Coal India's renewable energy portfolio and supports the company's strategy to expand clean energy infrastructure alongside its core mining business.
