UPMRC Floats ₹1,878 Crore Tender for Lucknow Metro Phase 1B Underground Stretch
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has floated a tender worth an estimated ₹1,877.89 crore for the underground section of the Lucknow Metro Phase 1B project. The tender covers construction of seven underground metro stations and tunnel works on the East-West Corridor between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj.
The scope includes underground stations at Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical Chauraha and Chowk. It also includes tunnel construction and an approximately 350-metre-long ramp beyond Chowk Metro Station to connect the underground section with the elevated corridor. This underground stretch from Charbagh to Chowk forms part of the proposed 11.16 km corridor.
According to the tender schedule, technical bids will open on July 28. UPMRC expects to complete the underground section within 36 months from the commencement of work.
UPMRC has already floated tenders for the elevated section of the corridor, which comprises five elevated stations. The overall Lucknow Metro Phase 1B project carries an estimated investment of ₹5,801 crore, with UPMRC planning to execute the underground and elevated sections simultaneously to enable commissioning of the entire East-West Corridor.
