    A greenfield deep draft captive port and jetty with allied infrastructure is being developed at Suvali (Shivrampur) village near Hazira in Surat district, Gujarat, designed to handle around 60 million tonnes per annum of cargo including break bulk raw materials and finished steel products. The project is currently under Environmental Clearance review with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change after having secured Terms of Reference, with land acquisition for the ~331 hectare site still in progress. Construction is yet to commence, with the project expected to generate significant construction-phase and operational employment once cleared.

The project, estimated at around ₹27,500 crore, will include large shipyards, ancillary industries and common infrastructure, with a Detailed Project Report currently being prepared.

    A state-run shipbuilder has emerged as the highest bidder to lease 49 hectares of land and 7 hectares of waterfront at VO Chidambaranar Port for 30 years to set up a new shipbuilding and repair yard. Categorised as a brownfield capacity expansion under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme, the facility will cater to small coastal ships and marine craft. The port authority's board has approved the price bid for the roughly ₹2,000 crore project.

Executed via PPP mode, the asset upgrades an outer terminal and retrofits dual commercial berths to handle an combined container capacity of 0.693 million TEUs. Active on-site structural engineering will span from December 2027 through December 2030.
