Brahmaputra Infrastructure Limited (BIL), in a joint venture with HBMCPL, has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a railway infrastructure package awarded by Northeast Frontier Railway Construction (NFR-CONST). The contract is valued at approximately ₹137.60 crore and forms part of the proposed Kokrajhar-Gelephu cross-border railway corridor connecting India and Bhutan. The company said the contract will be executed over a period of two years.

The Hybrid EPC contract covers earthwork in formation and cutting, blanketing, and construction of RCC boxes, RCC and PCC drains, retaining walls and toe walls, nine minor bridges, and one Road Over Bridge (ROB). The scope also includes railway electrification works, covering design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Overhead Equipment (OHE), electrical works, and signalling and telecom systems.

The package covers the section from Kokrajhar station (excluding) to CH-4.100 and from Salakati station (excluding) to CH-0.400, forming the starting stretch of the proposed 69-km Kokrajhar-Gelephu railway corridor.

The project is intended to strengthen cross-border rail connectivity between India and Bhutan. It marks the BIL-HBMCPL joint venture's first contract on the Kokrajhar-Gelephu corridor, and the early award is expected to support the joint venture's participation in additional packages as the railway corridor progresses.
