A 2 GW solar module facility is being planned by Adani Green Energy for Tamil Nadu, India. The facility will be a component of a wider ecosystem for green hydrogen that also produces wind turbines.
By the end of 2023, Adani wants to have 2 GW of capacity for silicon ingots and wafers in India. This action will help India get closer to its objective of having a 110 GW nameplate module production capacity, which will enable it to fully meet its photovoltaic (PV) demand.
Adani is the largest and most integrated module manufacturer in India. Despite previous allegations of fraud, industry experts have indicated that these events would not hinder the progress of the Indian PV industry.
One of the main obstacles to growth has been the shortage of modules available to developers due to India’s protectionist policies, such as the basic customs duty (BCD) and Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
These policies impose high tariffs on imported PV products and restrict the companies and products that can be deployed.
