Kerala gets proposals for building green hydrogen and ammonia facilities

Power Generation  -  Aug 01,2023  -

For the construction of green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing facilities that serve both domestic and export markets, two significant enterprises have made plans to the Kerala government.

One of the businesses plans to send 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia to Germany using the Vizhinjam Adani port.

They intend to construct an integrated renewable energy project, a trailblazing endeavour in Kerala, to power the green ammonia plant continuously.

The integrated renewable energy project will involve a solar installation coupled with a pumped hydro storage facility located within the state.

The Kerala State Electricity Board will invest in the pumped-storage power facility, which has a capacity of 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh, to provide renewable energy continuously.

As reported by IndustryOutlook Manufacturing, the energy generated from this project, along with a 1,200 MW solar power plant, will meet the energy demands of the green ammonia production complex, which will have an annual output of 2,000,000 tons.
