Proterial India is setting up the country’s first amorphous electrical steel plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh with a planned investment of ₹1,350 crore. The facility will produce Metglas, an advanced amorphous metal electrical steel used in distribution transformers to reduce core losses by 20-30%. In partnership with Shirdi Sai Electricals, which holds a 26 % equity stake, the plant aims to boost domestic production of specialty electrical steel, support energy efficiency objectives and create over 500 direct jobs.
