Verka milk plant in Mohali gets Rs 325 crore upgrade

Infrastructure  -  Jan 02,2025  -

The Phase-6 Verka Milk plant in Mohali is set to undergo a significant expansion, with a Rs 325 crore investment aimed at enhancing its capacity from 6.5 lakh litre to 13.70 lakh litre per day over the next two years.

The liquid milk plant capacity will increase from 6.5 lakh litre per day to 10 lakh litre per day, with an additional 3.70 lakh litre per day dedicated to fermented dairy products.

A new chiplets packing unit for butter (10g, 100g) will also be introduced to cater to the growing demand in the market.

According to Punjab Milkfed chairman Narinder Singh Shergill, the upgrade is part of a broader effort to modernise and expand Verka’s operations across the state. This includes upgrading existing outlets and investing in new technology to improve efficiency and productivity.

The expansion project will also focus on increasing the processing capacity for products like lassi, curd, clarified butter, and butter. All new units will be fully automated to ensure seamless operations.
