Manufacturing  -  Feb 27,2025  -

The Uttar Pradesh government is targeting private sector investments worth Rs 70,000 crore in electronics manufacturing and data centres, aiming to strengthen its ‘Make in UP’ and ‘Brand UP’ vision. Under the UP Electronics Manufacturing Policy (UPEMP), it expects Rs 40,000 crore investment and four lakh work opportunities.

The UP Data Centre Policy 2021 aims for Rs 30,000 crore in investments, with plans for 8 private data centre parks of 900 MW capacity. A senior state official highlighted the role of electronics manufacturing in the state's economy, noting its 22 percent contribution to exports in 2023.

The policy has attracted Rs 6,500 crore investment from companies like Haier, Vivo, Samsung, LG, Dixon, Addverb, Oppo, and Havells. The Policy provides subsidies on capital, land, and electricity.

Major data centre projects worth Rs 20,000 crore have been announced by the Hiranandani Group, Adani Group, NTT Japan, and Web Werks. As digital adoption rises, India is projected to require 1.7-3.6 GW additional colocation data centre capacity by 2028.
