The Union Cabinet has approved two national highway projects in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh with a combined estimated investment of ₹14,115 crore. The approvals cover a six-lane road tunnel in Delhi and an access-controlled highway corridor in Uttar Pradesh.
The Delhi project involves construction of an 8.1 km six-lane road tunnel on NH-148AE, connecting the Dwarka Expressway with Nelson Mandela Marg at Vasant Kunj. This project carries an estimated investment of ₹6,969.67 crore.
The Cabinet also approved construction of the 117.7 km Kanpur–Kabrai section of NH-34 in Uttar Pradesh. This highway will be developed as a four/six-lane access-controlled corridor.
The two projects are expected to strengthen regional highway connectivity and improve traffic movement. They are also intended to enhance access between key urban corridors and support efficient movement of passenger and freight traffic, while strengthening the national highway network across both states.
