Maruti Suzuki inaugurated its vehicle manufacturing facility at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana. The plant spans 800 acres, with the company's projected total investment at the site put at ₹35,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi jointly inaugurated the facility via video conferencing during the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum. The foundation for the plant was laid in August 2022, making it Maruti Suzuki's third facility in Haryana, alongside existing plants in Gurugram and Manesar.

The plant's current annual production capacity of 5 lakh units is planned to be scaled up to 10 lakh units, which the company states would make it one of the largest vehicle manufacturing facilities globally. Production at the site has been underway since February 2025, with the Maruti Brezza the first model built there, later joined by the Victoris.

The facility incorporates several sustainability-linked infrastructure elements. It currently draws 100% of its electricity from renewable sources, combining an installed solar capacity of 20MWp — to be expanded to 70MWp by 2030 — with green power procurement. A 10 tonnes-per-day biogas plant and a 1MWh battery energy storage system are being set up at the site. The facility also operates as a zero liquid discharge plant, with 100% water recycling and nearly two-thirds of its water requirement met through recycled water and rainwater harvesting.

To reduce transportation-related congestion and fuel consumption, Maruti Suzuki will also set up an in-plant railway siding at the facility. The plant additionally uses human-aware collaborative robots (COBOTS) to support manufacturing operations.

With Kharkhoda now operational alongside Gurugram, Manesar and Hansalpur (Gujarat), Maruti Suzuki's total annual production capacity across all plants stands at 26.5 lakh units.
