Construction of Danapur-Bihta elevated road may start in March

Infrastructure  -  Feb 06,2024  -

The construction work for the 23.5km long Danpur-Bihta elevated four-lane road is likely to commence in a month.

National Highways Authority of India will conduct the soil testing after railways transfer its land to the state government.

Regional officer (RO) of NHAI, Y B Singh, said about 69 acres of land is required for the construction of Danapur-Bihta elevated road.

"Out of this, about 10 acres of land belongs to the railways near Danapur station. The agriculture department has about 5 acres of land near Bihta. Five acres are government land. Apart from this, the rest of the land has to be acquired. The construction work could not begin as the railways has not transferred its land yet. However, railways has approved the transfer of land near Danapur Railway Colony along Danapur-Bihta Road, but it will still take one month. In return, the state government has to give its land near Hardinge Park in the state capital," he said.

Two agencies have been selected for the elevated road project, which will take around two years to be completed. The time duration will start from the day of signing the contract.

"It is an elevated section of Patna-Buxar four-lane road. The proposed road shall improve connectivity and ease congestion between Patna and the proposed Bihta international airport and further to Buxar via Bihta and Koilwar. It will take around two hours to cover the 120km distance to Purvanchal Expressway from Patna once this project is completed. The commuters going to New Delhi by road will cover the distance in around 8-9 hours," the RO added.
