Infrastructure  -  Nov 18,2024  -

Andhra Pradesh government has granted administrative approval for a pre-feasibility study for six proposed greenfield airports.

The airports are planned at Kuppam, Srikakulam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Tuni-Annavaram, Ongole, and Tadepalligudem, according to G.O. Rt.No.84 issued by N. Yuvaraj, Secretary (FAC), Infrastructure & Investments.

The initiative follows deliberations between Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu in August 2024.

Subsequently, the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) identified suitable land parcels and initiated the groundwork for the study in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Significant land parcels have been earmarked for the development of proposed airports across Andhra Pradesh. The Nagarjuna Sagar Airport will span 1,671 acres in the Gurazala division of Palnadu district, while the Kuppam Airport has been allocated 1,502 acres.

For the Srikakulam Airport, 1,384 acres have been designated in the Palasa division of Srikakulam district.

The Tadepalligudem Airport in West Godavari district will cover 1,123 acres, and the Tuni-Annavaram Airport in the Peddapuram division of Kakinada district has been allotted 788 acres.
