    A state-run shipbuilder has emerged as the highest bidder to lease 49 hectares of land and 7 hectares of waterfront at VO Chidambaranar Port for 30 years to set up a new shipbuilding and repair yard. Categorised as a brownfield capacity expansion under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme, the facility will cater to small coastal ships and marine craft. The port authority's board has approved the price bid for the roughly ₹2,000 crore project.

    New Synthetic Organic Chemicals Manufacturing Unit in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu

    A new manufacturing facility for synthetic organic chemicals, including unsaturated polyester resin, PET resin, isophthalic resin, vinyl ester resin and bisphenol resin, is proposed with a total capacity of about 12,000 TPA. The unit is planned within SIPCOT Industrial Park Phase I, Cuddalore, on leased industrial land. The proposal is currently under examination for Terms of Reference from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, with construction yet to commence.

    An integrated silica manufacturing plant covering 125,412 sq. meters of built-up area is planned in Semmankuppam Village, Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. Capitalized at an estimated cost of Rs. 7,750 million, the facility will produce specialty silica products. Submitted to SEIAA for environmental clearance in July 2026, construction work is scheduled from November 2026 through June 2027.
