The proposal is currently under examination by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for Terms of Reference. Passenger handling capacity is planned to rise from 200 to 600 peak-hour passengers (0.61 MPPA) by 2035-36.

Construction has commenced and the facility is expected to be operational by early 2028, generating over 1,000 jobs.
