Project summary
An existing opencast coal mine in Warora taluka, Chandrapur district is being expanded from a sanctioned capacity of 3.85 MTPA to 4.125 MTPA, representing the final tranche of a previously approved 50% capacity enhancement. The project involves land of over 1679 Ha (non-forest), diversion of a nala, irrigation canal, HT line and PWD road, and construction of a dedicated railway siding (expected to be commissioned by March 2027) alongside road transport. The proposal is currently under examination by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for grant of Environmental Clearance for the expansion.
