    The existing Kolgaon opencast coal mine is being expanded from 0.6 MTPA to 0.8 MTPA production capacity, with mine lease area increasing from 397.25 ha to 520.6 ha across Yenak, Chikhali, Kolgaon, Sakhara and Takli villages in Wani tehsil. The proposal, filed as an amendment in Terms of Reference/Environmental Clearance, is currently under examination by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The expansion is expected to raise permanent operational employment from 103 to 115 personnel once implemented.

The proposal is currently under verification with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for grant of Environmental Clearance/ToR, with forest diversion approval also in process. Construction/mining operations are likely to commence around April 2027, with an estimated mine life of 17 years extending to 2046.
