Rs.233238 Million Pumped Storage Hydropower Project in Maharashtra
A 5400 MW off-stream open-loop pumped storage hydroelectric project is proposed across Taluka Bhor and Mahad in Pune and Raigad districts of Maharashtra, involving construction of upper and lower reservoirs with gross storage capacities of 27.97 MCM and 27.38 MCM respectively. The proposal has been accepted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and referred to the Expert Appraisal Committee for Terms of Reference; land acquisition, forest diversion approval and baseline environmental data collection are currently underway. Construction has not yet commenced, with the applicant company still securing statutory clearances and finalising site-specific approvals.
