    A new assembly facility for consumer electronics and home appliances - including LED TVs, air conditioners, microwave ovens, heat exchangers and juicer mixer grinders - is being established at Sri City in Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh. Spread over 8.55 acres with an investment of Rs. 700 Million, the unit has received Consent to Establish from the State Pollution Control Board. Proposed capacities include 41,667 LED TVs, 37,500 air conditioners and 2,084 microwave ovens per month, among other products.

The proposal is currently under verification with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change as a fresh Environmental Clearance application. Once operational, the project is expected to generate around 2000 permanent jobs.

    A US-based semiconductor equipment maker has signed an MoU with the Karnataka government to set up a research, manufacturing and software development facility for chip production at Bengaluru Signature Business Park near Kempegowda International Airport. The project, to be developed over the next decade, is expected to create around 1,000 jobs and will be the first industrial project at this business park. The company was earlier allotted 140 acres of land at the park on a lease-cum-sale basis.

    A new Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing unit has been approved for IDCO Infovalley-II, Khordha district, Odisha, spread over 21.889 acres. The unit will produce SiC Diodes and SiC MOSFETs with an investment of Rs. 34062.5 Million, generating around 1,270 jobs. The project has received approval from the Unit Approval Committee under Falta Special Economic Zone jurisdiction.
