Wilson Power Solutions to Invest ₹300 Crore in Transformer Manufacturing Expansion in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu
Wilson Power Solutions has exchanged a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu in London to invest ₹300 crore in Tiruvallur district, expected to create 400 new employment opportunities. The MoU was exchanged during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru C. Joseph Vijay's visit to the UK.
The investment will support the expansion of the UK-based company's electrical equipment manufacturing operations in Tamil Nadu, strengthening the state's capabilities in power and distribution transformer manufacturing and contributing to the development of its broader electrical equipment ecosystem.
Wilson Power Solutions is a UK-based independent manufacturer of high-efficiency power and distribution transformers, switchgear and energy infrastructure solutions. Founded in 1946 by Richard Wilson, the family-run company is marking its 80th anniversary in 2026. It is recognised for developing ultra-low-loss amorphous transformer technology. The company operates from its headquarters in Leeds, UK, and through its subsidiary, Wilson Power Solutions India Pvt Ltd, based near Chennai.
