Websol Gets 54.20-Acre Land Allotment for Greenfield 4 GW Solar Cell and Module Facility in Falta, West Bengal
Websol Energy System Limited has received a land allotment from the Government of West Bengal for its planned greenfield solar manufacturing facility. The company has been allotted approximately 54.20 acres at Falta Industrial Park, Kolkata, West Bengal.
The proposed facility is planned with 4 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity and 4 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity, to be developed in two phases of 2 GW each.
The site is located close to Websol's existing manufacturing operations at the Falta Special Economic Zone, where the company has operated for more than three decades. The location allows the company to draw on an established base of skilled manpower and existing supplier relationships in the region.
The new facility will add to Websol's integrated manufacturing base in eastern India, as domestic solar cell and module manufacturing capacity expands to meet India's renewable energy requirements. Company officials said the next phase involves moving from land allotment to construction and commissioning, with the project tracked against 2028 targets.
