Chennai-based VA Tech Wabag has secured an order worth Rs 340 crore from GAIL (India).
The contract involves designing, building, and operating (DBO) water treatment and effluent recycling plants. For GAIL’s petrochemical complex in Pata, Uttar Pradesh, Wabag will establish a 450 m³/hr ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO)-based effluent recycling plant, a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system, a new wastewater treatment facility, and an upgrade of an existing plant.
The EPC work is to be completed in 24 months, followed by six months of operations and maintenance (O&M). Projects and Development India (PDIL) will oversee the project as Engineer-in-Charge. The recovered water will be used for cooling tower makeup.
Additionally, Wabag has secured a repeat Rs 20 crore O&M order from IOCL to manage the tertiary treatment reverse osmosis (TTRO) plant at the Panipat Refinery, Haryana, for another three years. Wabag has operated this plant since its commissioning in 2006
