Union Cabinet Clears ₹2,169 Crore Ahmedabad Metro Extension from Koteshwar Road to Ahmedabad Airport
The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of a 6.032 km metro corridor in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, connecting Koteshwar Road to Ahmedabad Airport. The total project cost, including interest during construction, has been estimated at ₹2,169.04 crore. The project is targeted for completion within four years from the date of approval.
The corridor will comprise five stations: Ashram Road, Koteshwar Prachin Mandir, Sabarmati River, Sardar Nagar, and Airport. Of the five stations, four will be elevated and one will be underground. The alignment incorporates both elevated and underground sections along with associated metro systems and infrastructure.
The approved extension forms part of the ongoing expansion of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro network. Upon completion of this corridor, the combined network will extend to 77.63 km, strengthening urban transit coverage and improving last-mile airport connectivity across the Ahmedabad metropolitan region.
