Ultraviolette to Invest ₹779 Crore in New BIGGA EV Factory at Hosur, 5 Lakh Unit Capacity
Ultraviolette Automotive has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility, called the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory, at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri, Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The company is investing around ₹779 crore in the greenfield project, funded through internal resources and future cash flows over five years.
The facility will initially produce Ultraviolette's upcoming Tesseract electric scooter, due to launch in Q1 2027, before expanding to support a broader product portfolio spanning Sports, Crossover, Cruiser and Street motorcycle segments, along with additional scooter models.
The plant will ramp up in phases to an annual manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles, with infrastructure designed to scale further to 5 lakh units per year as demand grows. This is up to ten times the roughly 50,000-unit annual capacity of Ultraviolette's existing plant near Bengaluru, which will continue to serve as the company's research, development and manufacturing base.
The BIGGA Factory will integrate Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles, advanced automation and digital quality systems. The land for the facility was facilitated by the Government of Tamil Nadu, with Hosur's established automotive ecosystem and proximity to Bengaluru cited as key reasons for the location. The project is expected to generate around 2,000 jobs in its first phase, with employment expected to grow as production scales further.
