IHCL Signs 125-Key Greenfield Gateway Hotel in Sambalpur, Odisha
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a greenfield project for a 125-key Gateway hotel in Sambalpur, Odisha, developed in partnership with Shamsher Singh Hura of JAS Group. The hotel, Gateway Sambalpur, will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and bar, a fully equipped gym and swimming pool.
The property will also include a banquet space of more than 10,000 sq ft along with multiple meeting rooms, catering to weddings, social events and business conferences. Sambalpur, located on the banks of the Mahanadi River, is a commercial, cultural and industrial centre in Odisha and serves as the headquarters of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, said the reimagined Gateway brand's focus on authentic local experiences and contemporary comfort aligns with growing demand for quality hospitality in emerging markets such as Sambalpur.
With this signing, IHCL's Odisha portfolio will expand to eight hotels, including three currently under development, reflecting the company's continued push into tier-2 markets with growing industrial and business-travel demand.
