RVNL Bags ₹2,977 Crore NMDC Contract for 10 MTPA Buffer Stockyard and Blending Yard at Vizag
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Government of India enterprise, has received a Letter of Award from NMDC Limited for setting up buffer stockpiles and a blending yard with a handling capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. The contract is valued at ₹2,977 crore, including 18% GST.
The facility will be located near the Visakhapatnam Port Authority and is intended to strengthen NMDC's logistics and material management capabilities, supporting the storage, handling and blending of iron ore and other raw materials before transportation and distribution.
The project is scheduled to be executed over 42 months from the date of the award. RVNL stated that the contract has been awarded in the normal course of business by a domestic entity and does not involve any related-party transaction, with no financial or other interest held by its promoters or group companies in NMDC.
The buffer stockyard and blending yard are expected to improve supply chain efficiency for NMDC's mining operations, helping the company manage inventories and maintain consistent raw material quality for its customers. The contract adds to RVNL's expanding role in large-scale PSU infrastructure and logistics projects beyond its core railway construction business.
