Tata Motors, Welspun Renewable Energy Sign PPA for 86 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project

Power Generation Jul 03,2026

Tata Motors Ltd has partnered with Welspun Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd to co-develop an 86 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. The arrangement was formalised through a Power Purchase Agreement between the two companies.

The project will supply power to Tata Motors' manufacturing plants located in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. The facilities produce commercial vehicles for the company.

The hybrid project is estimated to generate 200 million units of clean electricity annually. It is expected to offset over 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions each year once operational.

The project will be enabled through co-investment between the two companies along with the long-term PPA. The integrated wind-solar hybrid setup is intended to provide a dedicated, reliable supply of green energy exclusively to the four Tata Motors manufacturing facilities covered under the agreement.

The initiative forms part of Tata Motors' broader push toward its RE100 target by 2030, under which the company aims to source its electricity needs from renewable sources.
