Sukhjit Starch Signs MoU with Maharashtra for ₹500 Crore Maize Processing Plant in Nashik
Sukhjit Starch and Chemicals Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra to establish a new maize processing unit in Nashik district. The company's exchange filing puts the planned capital expenditure at approximately ₹500 crore, though state and local reporting has cited a wider project figure of around ₹760 crore for the initiative.
The proposed plant is designed for a maize grind capacity of 1,200 tonnes per day and will be located in the Yeola MIDC industrial area, part of the Chinchodi Industrial Estate. The facility will manufacture maize starch and various value-added derivative products.
During the first phase, the project is expected to generate annual demand for approximately 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of maize, intended to provide farmers in Nashik district and surrounding areas with a stable and reliable market for their produce, reducing reliance on sale of raw produce alone.
The company said the initiative is aimed at expanding its manufacturing footprint and strengthening its market presence, and is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment. The project also aligns with the Maharashtra government's policy of promoting the food processing sector. No construction timeline or commissioning date has been disclosed.
