Spintronics AI Semiconductors Signs MoU with CSIR-CEERI to Develop Gallium Nitride (GaN) Technology in India

Hyderabad-based Spintronics AI Semiconductors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CSIR-CEERI to collaborate on gallium nitride (GaN) technology development in India. The company is the first Indian firm to partner with the institute on GaN.

The collaboration aims to start indigenous GaN chip design. It also envisages the possible setting up of a local manufacturing hub for GaN semiconductors. The source does not give a site, capacity or investment for the proposed facility.

Raghu Varma, founder and CEO of Spintronics, said the initiative can help India capture more of the GaN market value domestically. Manish Mathew, Scientist F and Head of the Diamond Research Group at CSIR-CEERI, Pilani, said the collaboration will strengthen India's indigenous GaN technology ecosystem.

The India GaN semiconductor market is projected to grow from $224 million in 2026 to nearly $1.88 billion by 2033. The article does not state a timeline, funding arrangement or technology partners beyond the two signatories.
