Auto components maker Spark Minda (Minda Corporation) has announced plans to invest ₹1,166 crore in two new greenfield manufacturing units in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region of Uttar Pradesh. The ground-breaking ceremony for the units, located in Sector 10 and Sector 24 of YEIDA, was held virtually in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the sidelines of the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi.

The new facilities will manufacture ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components and related vehicle access and connection systems. Spark Minda expects the two units to generate around 6,440 jobs.

The company said the new plants will add to its existing manufacturing footprint in the region, which includes security systems, die-casting and wiring harness plants in Noida and Greater Noida. Spark Minda Group Chairman Ashok Minda said the expansion builds on decades of engineering and supplier capability the company has developed in the Gautam Buddh Nagar industrial cluster.

Separately, Spark Minda confirmed a joint venture with Japan's Toyodenso Co. Ltd to manufacture advanced automotive switches at a new plant in Noida. The company's committed investment in the joint venture is around ₹60 crore, with operations expected to begin in the fourth quarter of FY27.

The YEIDA expansion follows a strong financial year for the company, which reported consolidated revenue of ₹6,185 crore in FY26, up 22.3% year-on-year, with profit of ₹358 crore. The investment is aimed at strengthening Spark Minda's manufacturing base to meet growing demand from the automotive sector, aided by the region's improving connectivity, including the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar.
