AURIC Greenfield Industrial Smart City Draws ₹71,343 Crore Investment, 62,405 Job Potential Near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), a greenfield smart industrial city being developed at Shendra and Bidkin near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, has emerged as a major manufacturing hub under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The project is being developed by Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL) across 10,000 acres, with the Shendra node spanning around 2,100 acres and the larger Bidkin node around 7,900 acres, roughly 40 km apart.
As of September 2025, 323 plots covering 3,029 acres of industrial land and 117 acres of mixed-use land had been allotted, representing investment commitments of over ₹71,343 crore and an employment potential of 62,405 jobs, both direct and indirect. Around 60% of AURIC's land is earmarked for industrial use, with the remaining 40% for residential, commercial, institutional and recreational development.
The city targets sectors including automobiles, auto components, electric vehicles, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, heavy engineering, electronics, IT-enabled services, textiles and food processing. The Bidkin node has attracted EV and advanced manufacturing investments from companies including Ather Energy, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, JSW Green Mobility and Lubrizol, while the Shendra node hosts manufacturers such as Hyosung, Perkins, Fuji Silvertech, Siemens, NLMK and Oerlikon.
AURIC is located around 15 km from central Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and 8 km from the airport, with connectivity via the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg and the Jalna Dry Port for container freight access. The proposed AURIC-Samruddhi Connector is intended to provide direct road connectivity to the Samruddhi Mahamarg, improving logistics access toward Mumbai, Nagpur and JNPT Port.
