SJVN Limited, a Mini Ratna Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has successfully commissioned its 90 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio. This project, executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, marks a significant milestone in the company's journey towards sustainable energy. With the addition of this floating solar project, SJVN’s total installed capacity has now reached 2466.50 MW, showcasing its commitment to diversifying its energy generation capabilities and contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.

Located in the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park in Khandwa District, Madhya Pradesh, the 90 MW project is one of the largest of its kind in Central and North India, reflecting SJVN's pioneering role in the floating solar segment. Developed at a cost of Rs 646.20 crores, the project is expected to generate 196.5 million units of energy in its first year of operation, with an estimated cumulative energy generation of 4629.3 million units over the next 25 years. This venture not only enhances SJVN's revenue by Rs 64 crores annually but also significantly reduces carbon emissions by 2.3 lakh tons, aligning with the Government of India’s mission to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2070. Additionally, the project contributes to water conservation by minimizing water evaporation, further emphasizing SJVN’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
