Saint-Gobain Announces ₹11,000 Crore India Investment Plan for New Plants, R&D and Digital Capabilities Over Five Years

Saint-Gobain has announced a plan to invest about ₹11,000 crore (€1 billion) in India over the next five years. The French building materials group says the money will go towards new plants, research and development, digital capabilities and targeted acquisitions in building materials.

The plant spend is the part most relevant to equipment suppliers and EPC firms. The company has not named locations, products or capacities for the new plants in the material reviewed.

Saint-Gobain has 82 production sites in India and has built more than 22 new plants since 2019. Its R&D centre on the Chennai Institute of Technology campus employs about 300 researchers.

The group says it has doubled its size in India every five years and aims to triple it over the next ten years. Saint-Gobain solutions are already used in projects such as the Pune metro, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
